How to break into traditional publishing
Whether your story is positioned right for success
How to revise effectively so your story stands out and is ready for submission

From concept to polished draft, ready for agents and editors.

No guesswork. Know what to do, when, and why.

Position yourself for success now and for the future.

Because we know you’re busy. We’ll keep you on track without overwhelming your schedule.

Clarity on the traditional publishing process
Confidence in your writing and submissions
Credible guidance from an award-winning author
A professional portfolio that gets attention
A strong brand that supports long-term success
How are you feeling about the Mastery Mentorship so far?
You can keep guessing, Googling, and rewriting endlessly…
Or
You can partner with someone who’s been where you are and knows the path.
Advance faster and with clarity
Those unwilling to put in the revision work and accept feedback
Writers who are only interested in self-publishing
Writers who want a “quick fix” or overnight results without committing to the process
Casual hobbyists who are not serious about pursuing traditional publishing
Writers seeking mentorship in other genres (novels, screenplays, poetry, etc. — this program is specifically for children's picture books)
People who are not open to learning the business side of traditional publishing (querying, submission, branding)
Anyone looking for a done-for-you service (this program requires your active participation)
Authors who have already self-published their book(s) and are looking for marketing help rather than craft/development support or finding an agent

Becky H. came to the mentorship at a plateau. Together, we refined her portfolio, polished her submissions, and built her agent list. Shortly after, she signed with a great agent.
Kasey completed the mentorship and quickly landed a book deal.
Becky W. graduated from the program, signed with a top agent, and secured a publishing deal with a wonderful house.
Melanie had been writing for years but felt stuck. Just nine days after finishing the mentorship, she signed with an agent.
Mary connected with her agent after one of my workshops and soon signed two publishing deals with Random House.
Alexine refined her manuscript portfolio through the mentorship, signed with an agent, and is now happily on submission to publishers.
Blaire started the mentorship with just one rough draft of a picture book. By graduation, she had six polished stories, signed with a top agent, and published her debut. Today, she’s an award-winning author with three books out and a thriving career.
Missy had been trying for years to break in. After upgrading her portfolio in the mentorship, she queried—and got an agent’s reply of interest within two hours!
Rose, a freelance journalist, joined the mentorship with only early drafts. By the end, she signed with one of the top agents in the industry—and soon after, a Big 5 book deal.
Christine completed the mentorship and landed a 7-book deal for her debut series—plus three agent offers! Her first book launched in July 2025.
There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing our students’ hard work come to life on the shelves. These beautiful book covers represent more than just stories, they’re proof of perseverance, growth, and dreams fulfilled.

The mentorship runs for 3 months, giving you structured support and progress. Afterward, you can continue with a flexible month-to-month maintenance subscription to keep receiving guidance and community benefits—you can cancel anytime.
About 30 minutes a day (or a few focused hours on the weekend) is plenty. The online portion is self-paced, while 1:1 coaching sessions are scheduled around your availability. Mastermind calls are recorded, so you’ll never miss out—you can always catch the replays.
By the end of the mentorship, you’ll have:
✔ A polished portfolio of 3+ submission-ready manuscripts
✔ Professional query letters and submission packages
✔ A curated list of target agents and editors
✔ A branding and marketing plan tailored to you
✔ A clear action plan to position yourself for long-term success as an author
No. In traditional publishing, the publisher chooses the illustrator who best matches your story and the market. Submitting your manuscript with illustrations can actually hurt your chances of landing an agent or publisher.
In your 1:1 meetings, you’ll receive in-depth, personalized feedback that pinpoints what’s working, what’s holding your story back, and any blind spots you might not see. You’ll get expert coaching, constructive critique, and tailored strategies to elevate your drafts, polish them, and get them submission-ready—all while honoring your vision.
Perfect! The program guides you step by step—from idea to polished manuscript. Many beginners have joined, grown tremendously, and gone on to secure agents, publish multiple books, and win awards.
We work with authors at every stage. If you’ve plateaued, want deeper critiques, or need guidance on branding, marketing, and career growth, the Academy provides the expertise, support, and community to help you level up.
Yes. The program is designed exclusively for authors pursuing traditional publishing.
Once the 3-month mentorship concludes, you can transition into our month-to-month maintenance program. You’ll continue to receive live coaching, critiques, and community perks, plus exclusive opportunities to connect with agents and publishers through special member-only events.
